"The most valuable commodity a parent can give their child is a good education, as knowledge
is the only thing you can be sure your child has with them where ever they travel. "

Entering Secondary 3:  IGCSE or SMP 3

Students and parents need to consider carefully about which programme to follow, each has it's merits.
 There are two choices:

International

Kurikulum Nasional Indonesia
A choice of iGCSE subjects to suit students
 interests and abilities.

( 3 core subjects plus 3 stream subjects plus 3 electives)
Subjects studied in greater depth.

Some students may fail some subjects yet exceed at others. Low grades in some subjects would not effect progression to A Level.

Builds extensive ability in English

( a C grade in GCSE is accepted by many institutions as an equivalent to a reasonable TOEFL or IELTS score, though C grade AS-Level is slowly becoming the new standard )

A good foundation for entry to
pre university A Levels.
SMP 3

 A fixed set of subjects.

A wide range of subjects
with limited depth

Students must achieve a certain level of ability
in all subjects in order to proceed to SMA

 Suitable for students lacking the
required ability in English

Suitable for students with
no plan to seek education abroad.

IGCSE : Students achieving reasonable results in Checkpoint are automatically accepted into the IGCSE programme. Students entering from regular classes have to prove their English capability by following entrance tests for Science, Mathematics & English, with exams set in English.

How children perform during their secondary education can have knock-on effects throughout their schooling. In many ways it influences where they may be able to take their A Levels and ultimately where they will be able to go to University. Whether your child plans to continue education in Indonesia, or complete their studies abroad they will be required to prove they have attained a certain level of proficiency in many areas such as mathematics and languages.

"The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is the world's most popular international qualification for 14–16 year olds. It develops successful students, giving them excellent preparation for their next steps in education, including progression to A and AS Level study, and equips them with skills for immediate employment. Cambridge IGCSE is recognised by universities and employers worldwide."

While a job may be given mainly based upon A-Levels or degrees obtained, secondary level education is often used to ensure potential employees have achieved basic competencies not covered in further education. It also provides valuable information as it is the first opportunity students have to control their own career paths. For this reason it can be a very stressful time and students require advice support and preparation support advice

.IGCSE and A Levels are accepted as proof of academic ability for entry to universities worldwide

Secondary 5:  A-Level or SMA 2
IGCSE students may wish to switch back to regular classes having completed IGCSE this is acceptable on condition that student possess 'Paket B'
